Allegory and the Cave

There are many different ways to think about Allegory and the Cave. Prisoners are walking tied up, and they can only see what is infront of them. I think in some way we are all like the prisoners. We only know what we are used to and sometimes you dont want to know anything else because it can be scary. I think the prisinors are used to it, to them it is normal and they do not know of anything but that. This reminds me of my anthropology class, my teacher travels all over the world and she tells us what she sees, like men holding hands, they are not gay, they are just friendly, to them it is normal, but we think it is somewhat of and many people will scare and think it is weird. I think this is what Allegory and the Cave tries to tell us. Sometimes the norm for us is not the norm for others.

  1. You make a good point here about the fear often associated with challenging fundamental beliefs. Nice start to your blog!
